Bassinet Stroller

A bassinet stroller is essentially a portable bassinet with wheels and a handle. You can take your newborn out of the house without disturbing the little one’s sleep. And, after raising two infants myself, I’ve learned that you don’t want to disturb a sleeping child by wrestling him out of a bassinet into a regular stroller!

I can tell you that a bassinet stroller really comes in handy when you want to go shopping, or even for a walk outdoors. It can be very awkward to take your infant out of the bassinet and put his or her into a carrier just for a short trip. Then, you are forced to lug the baby around – using one hand, no less! I’ve found this way of carrying  a baby quite tiring, and very inconvenient.

As your child grows, imagine carrying around a 20 pound infant with one hand, and performing your other functions with the other hand – I’ve done it and my hand got very tired. A bassinet stroller is also much more comfortable for your baby. He of she can stay in comfortable, familiar surroundings while you’re on the go away from home.

Modern bassinet strollers are made of strong, lightweight materials, and many of them can fold up when not being used. Some of the better ones come with a carrying handle – like a suitcase, for maximum convenience. While the construction of the bassinet stroller is often a durable polyester, the mattress that your baby will rest on is usually connon, along with the bedding materials. Cotton is comfortable, cheap and easy to clean. Some bassinets come with a mesh screen to protect your baby from insects and debris that may be present outdoors.

These are only a few reasons why you should have a bassinet stroller for your infant, or newborn. If you’re still expecting, then you’ve got some time to shop around and get the best bassinet stroller – and get the best deal, too!
